Volcanoes are formed when there is so much stress and vibrations inside the plates of earth in the crust region. Often volcanoes are result of a long pressurized magma present inside the layers of earth. When this pressure reaches to the level of a high magnitude this results in the activity of volcanoes. This magma slowly reaches towards the upper layers of the earth thorough vents and other kind of large capillaries called, a fissure created due to the stress inside the earth finaly reaches to the surface of the earth and comes out with strong pressure from the earth which erupts large quantity of hot and environmentally poisonous substance which is called lava.

As naturally some of the volcanic eruptions occur with a strong pressure which may be even explosive. But again not all types of volcanoes are explosive. Some other kind of eruptions are smooth as they erupt some thick material which may be collection of rocky material etc. This is the nature of magma content of an eruption which determines as to what kind of volcanic eruption occur. Lave flows coming out of the volcanic eruptions can cause some damage to building coming in its path as this content contain many hazardous chemical compounds. Often volcanoes occurring period may take thousands of years.
